Currently in Los Angeles, originally from San Francisco, James Hickey was the inspiration for the the fun image above that i emulated. He's worked with Reebok, Glamour Magazine, Christian Audigier, ed hardy and many more ! Originally, James worked as an engineer and went to the University of Alaska. However, in 2002 he found a new love in life, photography. A freelance photographer with an artistic focus on commercial fashion, is the bare minimal way to describe Hickey. He is my absolute favorite photographer. As shown in this photo, he specializes in vivid color and expression. Typically he photographs people or married couples, but never seems to lack creativity with these subjects. Anna Webber, another great photographer apprenticed with James to master the darkroom and lighting studio.
To create my photo, i had my roommate put white eye-shadow and powder all over her face. I didn't have much white cream but i was able to create a whiter face and hand. I then painted her nails with gray nail polish to compliment the silver stripe on the car. The backdrop was white which made the colors really pop and in order to try and create the same effect, I had her stand in my bathroom shower. The lighting was a little difficult because we were in the shower however its what makes the photo a little more unique. I really enjoy everything this photo expresses.
